Other uses of Music

The music was transferred in its use in the Ancient Egypt, being the important use the music as funerary spiritual ritual.

The Egyptians made great funerals to the deceased nobles. The most important characteristics of these funerals was the march of the living carrying the deceased, which brought music as an instrument to mark the slow and tiring pace.

With time other instruments were introduced besides the percussion that marked the march and the music little by little was gaining ground as a spiritual entity that accompanied the deceased after his death until arriving at where the gods were.

All these funerary rituals were performed in honor of Asir (best known for the Hellenized form Osiris), the god of resurrection and agriculture in whom they saw the possibility of eternal life. It was supposed to be doing the same ritual ceremony as when this god passed away, who later rose from the dead; all the deceased would have the same possibility of resurrection and eternal life.

Thus, music would be spiritually bound to religion and would lose its practical function until today where the musical phenomenon is exclusively spiritual without any connotation of practicality in its use.
